By far, the coolest part of my job is traveling around and documenting young couples on their wedding day. It is fascinating to observe the relationship between the bride and groom, between family members, and between friends. It’s also a blast to observe how each of these couples decide to celebrate their day. Some weddings are very detailed, some are simple, some are hectic, and some are low-key. While all wedding have a similar purpose, each celebration is completely different. In fact, I’ve never photographed a wedding that even slightly reminded me of a past wedding.
A few Saturdays ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Michelle and Jim on their wedding day. Now…after photographing hundreds of weddings in my career (I lost count after 5), I now have a mental image of what I think a perfect wedding should be. This mental image is just a collection of my favorite moments from the past few years, and Michelle and Jim’s day hit the nail on the head.
To begin, these two kids are crazy about each other, and it was clear that their family and friends loved every second of being part of their wedding. Their ceremony was filled with emotion. (I love when the groom cries!) The toasts by the maid of honor and best man were probably the best I’ve ever heard. There was not a dry eye in the house. And the party…this crowd partied like no other.
Take a look at the fun, love, polka-dotted rain boots, fire-trucks, decoupaged rocks, crazy dancing, cool shoes, and the awesome couple…
