Today is a sad day. My brother-in-law’s brother has passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Scott was an amazing artist with a photographic memory. I’ll never forget attending my niece’s baptism with Scott. Hours after the ceremony, Scott sat at the kitchen table and drew a sketch of the event. It was amazing. The detail and expression of the people involved was stunning. Scott then drew a caricature of my son playing his violin. Again, his quick sketch using a ball-point pen and some scrap typing paper was a work of art.

Scott Fertig, left, provides the toast at the wedding of my sister, Michelle, and her new husband Todd.
I invite you to read an article in the Washington Post today about Scott’s life. For a peek into his world, take a look at Scott’s web site. He will be sadly missed.
